I had read about her in books. For the first time, this weekend, I saw and felt Sophie Calle.
Upon arriving, the greeting of a small sign on the door built anticipation, as I wondered whether I would find the artist inside. It was rumored that she would be in and out. Although I missed Calle, and read later on a blog she would be sleeping there that night, the room radiated with her energy. It was quiet, as spectators silently read to themselves.
Filled with personal objects and stories, the presence of Sophie permeated through the air of the small and beautifully arranged room at the Lowell Hotel. Her delicate handle on things of an intimate nature invites us all to be voyeurs. In “Room”, open 24/7 for 3 days, we were allowed to live with her.

FLORIAN MAIER AICHEN
Imagination and magic are some things I have been thinking a lot about lately. I love Aichen’s use of photography and blending of analogue and digital techniques. He brings his hand into the images that questions our relationship to the image itself as well as to our time and space in way that is refreshing. His pieces are exquisitely magical.

How to grow attached
If you force the branches on a tree
to touch while growing, they sometimes
will become one.

“I adore you
I adore your being
Every single atom of my heart is charged to explode
and if the next three words that come from your precious lips
were to be, "I love you”
They would detonate like the most violent atomic bombs.
I like to think that the stars never die out
that our bodies never fade away
I want to travel to the stars that glisten in your eyes
and take you with me to somewhere
somewhere that only exists to us.“
